Exhibition Design
Exhibitions can involve a serious outlay of time and resources and utilising great exhibition design is a key part of success. The exhibition stand needs to maximise its impact and stand out from the crowd.
The stand should grab the attention and be as engaging as possible. The use if colour, information graphics need to be effective in communicating who your are, your brand and your proposition. Consistency of style and message within the exhibition design and across all support material will give visitors confidence to choose to spend time with you.
Once on the stand, visitors need to feel comfortable and not overwhelmed by the design. My job with exhibition design is to understand the balance between useful information and unnecessary clutter.
Delivering Exhibition Design
I work closely with my clients and their exhibition stand production companies to produce visuals of what the final design will look like. This allows everyone to be quite clear about the objectives and how we’re communicating these to the visitors.
Self Build, Modular or Custom Built Stand Design
All of these systems require a slightly different approach to design and artwork.
Within most budgets are self build stand which are easy to transport and quick to install. Great for small and medium businesses, these are low cost options with tones of flexibility.
If you want something different but retains some element flexibility, there are some great modular systems now available. These often work to a plan, but have various options to add interest to your exhibition design.
A bespoke custom built stand are unique and can look amazing. Often with a significant budget, these stand really do stand out.
Working with the Brand
One issue with working with a third party exhibition stand production company is communicating how to represent the brand. Many of my clients prefer to work with me to deliver the graphics as this is often a more cost effective way of working. With my background in graphic design and digital design I am often in better position to explore different ways to communicate the key messages. It also helps having a creative mind on board to discuss innovative and creative ways to promote services and entice leads onto the stand.

Support Design Material
Exhibition design is never a single project. Alongside designing the exhibition space and graphics I also help clients with all other aspects of delivering a successful event. I can get involved in anything required, from invitations, through to take-away corporate literature, to recording and reporting documentation.
My knowledge of what is needed and the pressure of event management, I can help alleviate some of that tension and help navigate the potential problems along the way.
I have also been know to roll my sleeves up and help the production teams install the exhibition. This ensures the original vision is realised and the inevitable snagging issues are fixed leaving my client to concentrate on other important aspects such arranging meetings and checking they have all they need for a successful show.
Over the years I have worked on projects for shoes such as the GLEE Gardening Show, the OM Yoga Show London and the NEC Autumn Fair. I have also worked on various smaller trade shows and recruitment fairs.
